STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND COMMITMENT

In a society that is rapidly changing in relation to information, technology, and global communication there is a need for continuous assessment and evaluation. Schools have a responsibility to engaged in a process of continuous assessment and evaluation in preparing students for their futures.

While some states assume the responsibility for accrediting both public and nonpublic schools, other states are not involved with the accreditation process for nonpublic schools. Acknowledging the uniqueness of mission and purpose of non-public schools in our society, the NFNSSAA recognizes the need for standards that highlight these areas and establish accountability to their local communities/congregations in providing the best possible program for students under their care.

The establishment of the National Federation of Nonpublic School State Accrediting Associations was a response to this challenge as well as a desire of the nonpublic school community to continue their history of quality education.

The NFNSSAA organization’s commitment to quality education in nonpublic schools is twofold: 1) a commitment to ensure that students in nonpublic schools are provided with educational experiences that will prepare them for the challenges of their adult life, and 2) a commitment to parents, communities, and state legislatures to ensure that quality education exists in our nonpublic schools.
